Wike alleges plot to pull down Rivers

Rivers  State  Governor,    Nyesom Wike, yesterday alleged a grand conspiracy to pull down the state.
The governor spoke when leaders of Petroleum Technology Association of Nigeria (PETAN) visited him at the Government House in Port Harcourt.

Wike wondered what those plotting against  the state would benefit from  such plot.
The governor, who declined to mention names of those behind the alleged plot said: “Those working against the  interest of Rivers State in the name of politics, should remember that the state  is critical to the development of the country.”

He  promised to always work for the unity and progress of the country, despite what he called distractions.
There is a grand conspiracy against Rivers State. But, I don’t  know in whose interest. I believe in the unity of this country.

Therefore, I will continue to work for its development and security.”
Wike also said there  were deliberate plans by some individuals to undermine the security of  the state.
He also alleged “how   security agencies at the federal  level,”  released   “deadly  suspects,” arrested by operatives  in  the state.

The  governor explained  that despite the challenges in the state, his administration has been  able to create an enabling environment for development to take place.
He, however, assured  PETAN that his administration would partner the  association to set up a functional national secretariat in the state to create jobs.

Earlier, in his speech,  PETAN Chairman, Mr. Bank-Anthony Okoroafor  called on the governor to create enabling environment for investors to carry out their activities.
He assured that  the  association would partner the state government to develop the state and to  enhance the growth of the petroleum sector.
