18 killed in Somalia road side bomb attack

An explosion on a road in Somalia’s Lafole town has left 18 commuters death. The blast which occurred at the early hours of Thursday in southwest of the capital, Mogadishu, is believed to have been set off by a remotely controlled bomb which affected a mini-bus full of passengers and close to passers by.

An eyewitness said the mini-bus was being escorted by a vehicle carrying troops. There was no immediate claim of responsibility but there are indications that the government truck full of soldiers was the target of the attack.
