Neymar breaks Olympic world record

Neymar had broken an Olympic world record after scoring the fastest goal in the competition’s history, FIFA confirmed.

The Brazil captain netted after just 15 seconds in the mens’ semi-final against Honduras to better Janine Becker of Canada’s women’s team, who scored with just 19 seconds on the clock against Australia on August 4.

It  was nearly elation to devastation for Neymar, however, as he collided with Luis Lopez in the build up to his opening goal and was stretchered off after receiving treatment.

The Barcelona star was soon back on his feet and assisted both goals as new Manchester City signing Gabriel Jesus put Brazil three goals to the good at half-time to all but secure a place in the Gold Medal match at the Rio Games.
