Buhari sacks Obazee, scribe financial reporting council

President Muhammadu Buhari today ordered immediate termination of appointment of Executive Secretary, Financial Reporting Council of Nigeria, Mr. Jim Obazee.
Obazee was credited as the man who issued the letter to all general overseers of churches forcing Pastor Enoch Adeboye to resign as General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG.
The letter had stipulated that the head of all not-for-profit organizations are to relinquish leadership of their organizations after 20 years in the saddle.

In a statement, Senior Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu said President Buhari ordered the appointment of a Chairman and a new Executive Secretary for the council. Consequently, Mr. Adedotun Sulaiman has been appointed as new Chairman. Sulaiman was a former Managing Partner/Director of Arthur Anderson and later, Accenture.

He is a Chartered Accountant and a product of the University of Lagos and Harvard Business School according to the press release.
The President also approved the appointment of Mr. Daniel Asapokhai as the Executive Secretary of the Council.

Mr. Asopokhai is a partner and a Financial Reporting Specialist at the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PWC), Nigeria. He is a product of the University of Lagos and the University of Pretoria.

President Muhammadu Buhari has also instructed the Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment to invite the nineteen ministries, departments and agencies of the Federal Government and private sector organizations specified in the FRC Act to nominate members of the board of the council.
